About Kevin

Kevin Lopez is an independent filmmaker and educator, who has attained an award-winning portfolio, as well as worked as a leading advocate for film arts education throughout the City of New York and beyond.   He attended graduate school at the University at Buffalo’s Media Studies Program, where he produced the award winning short documentary film titled Entre Luz y Sol, funded by the Miramax Films Minority Scholarship Fund. Since then, Kevin has produced countless music videos, short documentaries, and commercial pieces for clients such as Cadillac, Heineken, and Emirates, under LPZ Media, which he founded with his brother, Director John Marco Lopez.  In 2014, Kevin executive produced the independent feature film, The Inquisition of Camilo Sanz, which premiered at the Colombian International Film Festival and acquired by New Films International for global distribution. In 2015, Kevin executive produced the independent live-action fiction film, The Hudson Tribes, about a small community’s social and political struggles as a result of it’s failing school system.

In the realm of education, Kevin has worn many hats. He founded the very first film and media arts program at Soundview Academy for Culture and Scholarship in the Bronx.  From 2013 – 2015, Kevin has been the lead film educator for the NYC DOE Summer Arts Institute as well as the Film Studio co-chair at the prestigious Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, NY.  Kevin has worked closely with the New York City Department of Education and the Tribeca Film Institute as the Coordinator for the Moving Image Blueprint, responsible for creating professional development workshops for public school teachers integrating film and media arts curricula in their classrooms.  Currently, Kevin provides outreach support for Filmmakers Without Borders, and continues to run LPZ Media’s film arts education program in high-needs communities throughout the city of New York.
